Murder charges and two counts of parricide were filed against the father who hacked dead his own live-in partner and two of their three children in Barangay Lutac, City of Naga, Cebu.
According to Police Lt. Col. Verniño Noserale, chief of the City of Naga Police Station, the case was filed on January 30, 2025.
Noserale visited 33-year-old Carlo Camporedondo who is under hospital arrest, as of posting time, for the inquest proceedings.
In addition, City of Naga Police filed direct assault charges after Camporedondo resisted arrest and attacked a policeman, the reason why he sustained a gunshot wound on his knee.
It was learned that Camporedondo answered some of the cops' questions, this time, but he continues to keep mum about the hacking incident.
“Kon basehan nako ang statement sa akong personnel didto, in avoidance man gud siya sa ani nga topic, ani nga matter, so lahi-lahi siya og interpretation based on his actuation, pwede gina-avoid niya because trying to likay the reality nga mao to nahitabo sa iyang pamilya, siya pa gyud ang responsable sa pagkamatay,” Noserale said.
The case is considered closed, Noserale added.
Meanwhile, personnel of the Commission on Human Rights have coordinated with the City of Naga Police on assistance to the victims.
The suspect's 32-year-old live-in partner, Junelyn Gimenez, their 11-year-old son and two-year-old daughter were laid to rest on February 1, 2025.
Their seven-year-old son who was at school during the incident was taken into the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
