Murder charges have been filed against the three suspects in the slay of a pastor in Pavia town, Province of Iloilo.
Three Indian nationals, ages 19 years old to 25 years old, were charged on January 27, 2025 for the murder of Douglas Jover, a pastor, who was shot dead in Barangay Anilao, Pavia.
Earlier, it was established that the suspects are Indian nationals who are known in the community for their lending business.
The suspects lived in an apartment in Iloilo City.
Jover’s unsettled loans reportedly reached approximately P300,000 that got allegedly the ire of the suspects.
“The suspects were identified and the cases have been filed in court,” according to Colonel Bayani Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office.
The suspects were identified positively by witnesses. A few of the witnesses have loans as well with the suspects.
Based on investigation of the Pavia Municipal Police, the suspects have records on causing trouble in Iloilo City.
“Yung gunman natin may record sa Iloilo City. Yung kalaban niya naman dito is yung kapwa niya Bombay (a general local term to mean Indian national). Tapos yung isa ginagawan na namin ng validation, meron ding trouble na nagawa sa Mandurriao,” said Major Harold Rendora, chief of Pavia Municipal Police Station.
However, despite the monitoring reportedly of Pavia Municipal Police, they could not pinpoint clearly the whereabouts of the suspects, on whether they are still in the country or have already left.
“Although constant yung monitoring natin, yung mga intel operatives are giving their efforts para magkaroon tayo ng update kung nasaan na sila. And so far nandoon pa rin kami sa progress na hinahanap pa rin namin sila,” Rendora said.
A couple of inquiries was presented to the Pavia Police, such as on their coordination efforts with the Bureau of Immigration and other line agencies, but they pointed out that such information is confidential.
