Up to 2,000 drivers licenses remain unclaimed at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Dagupan City, as of this writing.

The office is urging motorists to claim their licenses but they need to be present at the station for the license to get printed.

“Mga backlogs ito ng mga claimants,” Romel Dawaton, Chief of LTO-Dagupan District Office, said.

There are no supply issues, as new driver’s license cards continue to arrive from the central office.

LTO suspended printing on weekends temporarily during the holiday season but is now considering of starting to print again.

“Pinag-aaralan natin ang schedule kasi ngayong January busy pa talaga ang LTO, so baka by February or March tayo mag-weekend duty,” Dawaton said.

For motorists, having a physical license is a huge advantage.

“Importante para hindi agad mawala. Kung papel, hindi mapunit o mabasa,” Joven Dorado, a driver, said.

As of this writing, LTO prints licenses from Monday to Friday.

Authorities are calling on drivers to claim their cards as soon as possible to help clear the pending cases and avoid delays.
