Police in Central Luzon confiscated 101 guns and arrested 103 individuals for violating the gun ban from January 12 to January 28, 2025.
Of those arrested, 98 are civilians, four are security guards, and one is a member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
As of January 29, Central Luzon recorded the second most number of arrests and firearm confiscations nationwide, following the National Capital Region (NCR) and ahead of Region 7.
Police Regional Office 3 (PRO-3) assured that these efforts aim to prevent crimes and ensure a peaceful election season.
“Tinitingnan po namin ‘yan sa positibong perspective. Isang baril lang po na lumusot po sa ating checkpoint ay magagamit na po iyan sa iligal na gawain. Mas malaking problema po iyon in maintaining ‘yung peace and order po natin,” PRO-3 Regional Director PBGen. Jean Fajardo said.
