A dog carrying around something suspicious in its mouth caught the attention of a resident of Barangay San Isidro in General Santos City.

When the resident checked, it was found that what the dog was biting on to was a newborn baby wrapped in cloth. The resident then placed the baby in a box and covered the same with plywood. The resident also managed to trace the vacant lot where the baby may have been abandoned and where dog may have found it.

At the vacant lot, authorities found the eco bag where the baby may have been placed, as well as medicines the mother may have used to abort the child.

‘Didto, nakita itong mga unprescribed pills nga gina-try pa namo i-confirm kung para sa asa to. Kung kato ba siya after abortion or kato ba siya gigamit para ma-abort ang bata, ug ang maka-testify ana, ang mga attending physician ato,” Police Station 1 Commander, Major Ivan Charles Abastillas, said.

The baby was brought to a funeral home as authorities try to identify the mother, as of this writing.

“Nag-coordinate pud mi sa mga clinics and hospitals if ever naa’y nagpa-confine nga babae nga posible nga murag naay indicators nga bag-ong naabot kay mag-bleeding pa man gud na siya… pag abortion, need pa pud siya raspahan para malimpyo,” Abastillas said.
