A man who was allegedly suffering from a mental problem died after he was hit with a helmet by a man who had claimed self-defense.
Police said two men went to the police station to report that the victim hurt them with no apparent reason.
Investigators went to the crime scene and found the victim with wounds in the head.
One of the two men who went to the police station said he was forced to hit the victim with a helmet after the latter allegedly attacked them first.
“Nahisgot nila nga nakasukol gyud sila katung isa nakabunal gyud sa iyang helmet as panagang na lang mao lagi kay gi-unahan sila. Actually, wala mani sila ingon nga away gyud kay wala man sila kaila aning tawhana,” Bulua Police Station Chief, Major Reynaldo Galvan, said.
The two men said the victim hit them with a wood when they were heading home, which forced them to retaliate.
Police said the victim allegedly had a mental problem, according to residents in the area.
“Which is naa pud ta’y narekober nga kahoy tapad sa patay’ng lawas sa biktima. So possibly mao siguro to ang pasabot nila nga kahoy,” Galvan added.
The man who hit the victim with a helmet was taken into custody and is facing homicide charges.
“Ang atoa ani kung naa’y ingon ani nga mga panghitabo mga tawo nga medyo wala sa saktong paminsar sa ilang huna-huna likayan na lang nato ni sila,” Galvan said.
