FICTAP national chairperson Estrelita ‘Neng’ Tamano was conferred as an honorary chairman of the Philippine Jaycee Senate Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes ‘service to humanity’ and other social work programs.
Tamano was present at an induction and turnover ceremony hosted by the JCI Senate Philippines on January 10 at the Manila Hotel.
She is the first ever female to be given such a recognition, and only the fourth honorary chairperson since the establishment of the Philippine Jaycee Senate Foundation, Inc.
“As a Jaycee, kapag nag-umpisa ka nang Jaycee– by heart, talagang Jaycee ka hanggang pagtanda mo,” said Tamano when she spoke with GMA Regional TV News after receiving the conferment.
“Dahil senior Jaycee na ako, I'm willing to impart my resources to the Philippine Jaycee Foundation because they are well-experienced sa mga project na makakatulong sa ating bayan especially sa mga professionals,” she added.
She recommended that the foundation puts more focus on encouraging outstanding young leaders “especially in the countryside.”
“Talagang ine-encourage yung outstanding young men, para ma-train yung young leaders natin… Karamihan kasi yung mga Jaycees andun lang sa urban areas, ire-request ko na kung pwede mag-train rin ng mga Jaycees sa countryside. Importante ito sa panahon ngayon eh, i-train ang young generation to maintain ang kultura natin na pagtulong sa kapwa,” Tamano explained, suggesting that there needs to be more sustained efforts to increase the foundation’s reach on a regional level.
Tamano is also the incumbent chairperson of the Federation of International Cable TV Associations of the Philippines or FICTAP, the largest non-profit organization of Cable TV operators in the Philippines.
“It’s an additional sa aking mga ginagawa– as FICTAP chairman more on cable TV and telecommunications, ito [PH Jaycee Senate Foundation] naman ay kawang-gawa,” she concluded.
The JCI Senate Foundation is comprised of JCI 'Senators,' the highest title the organization can bestow upon a member for their exceptional works and valuable contributions.
It is a non-stock and not-for-profit group that promotes the Jaycee Creed to provide "Service to Humanity is the Best Work of Life."
