Prior to the magnitude 4.1 earthquake that hit Hinunangan, Southern Leyte at past 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, a magnitude 4.7 tremor jolted Calubian town in the Province of Leyte at 2:03 a.m.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), in its Earthquake Information No. 4 issued at around 2 p.m. on January 16, 2025, said that the tremor hit 11.50°N, 124.40°E - 006 km N 25° W of Calubian, Leyte and is tectonic in origin.
No damages and no aftershocks are expected, the advisory indicated.
