A magnitude 4.1 earthquake hit Hinunangan town in the Province of Southern Leyte at 11:09 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025.

The quake was located at 10.46°N, 125.09°E - 014 km N 60° W of Hinunangan and is tectonic in origin, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

Earlier, Earthquake Information 1 stated that the depth was recorded at 10 kilometers. However, Earthquake Information 2 indicated that the depth was at 001 kilometer.

Intensity IV - Hinundayan, Southern Leyte

Intensity III - Sogod, Silago, and San Juan, Southern Leyte

 

Instrumental Intensities:

Intensity IV - Hinundayan, Southern Leyte

Intensity III - Sogod, Southern Leyte

Intensity II - San Juan, Southern Leyte 

No damages, no aftershocks are expected, PHIVOLCS said.
