Two women died while two others were injured in a road crash involving a tricycle and a pickup truck on the Digos-Makar Road in Barangay Balutakay, Hagonoy, Davao del Sur on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

Police said the two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the driver of the pickup truck allegedly lost control of the vehicle. The truck then crashed into the tricycle.

The road was reportedly slippery at that time because of the rain.

“‘Yung pickup… at the place of the incident, ‘yung pick up po, nag-swirl po siya. Umikot po siya ng limang beses at tsaka, and then, it hit the pedicab,” Hagonoy Police Station Traffic Investigator, Staff Sgt. Sittie Sajile, said.

The two female passengers of the tricycle died while another passenger, a seven-year-old boy, and the tricycle driver, were injured. The passengers are relatives.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken under police custody and is facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, serious physical injury, and damage to property.
