A man was hacked and stabbed to death by his nephew and his sister-in-law in Barangay Lumiad, Paquibato District, Davao City.

The victim was identified as “Romeo.”

Police said that while Romeo was planting coconut, his nephew, Edwin, allegedly confronted him, which resulted in an altercation and a fistfight.

Edwin and his father, Eddie, together with two other companions, were drinking at that time.

While the two were fighting, Edwin’s mother reportedly threw a scythe at Edwin but Romeo reportedly grabbed it.

Eddie reportedly tried to pacify the two but Romeo allegedly hacked him. Eddie sustained an injury in the shoulder.

Edwin’s mother then grabbed the scythe and hacked Romeo. Edwin also pulled out a knife from his waist and stabbed Romeo in the chest.

Edwin and his mother surrendered and are facing murder charges.
