The Municipal Circuit Trial Court has summoned up to 912 voter applicants in Barangay Linuc, Pualas, Lanao del Sur over flying voter allegations.

The court issued a subpoena for the applicants during the third hearing of the petition filed by a mayoral candidate in Pualas to exclude several alleged flying voters from Barangay Linuc.

However, the barangay treasurer can reportedly attest that those individuals summoned by the court are residents of the barangay.

“Bakit sinali yung mga mismong taga Linuc? Mga native sa Linuc kami, ang dami dami namin dito, ayan po sila sa likod bakit po sila sinali sa petisyon?” one of those summoned by the court said.

According to the legal counsel of the petitioner, they observed that some details in the birth certificates submitted by the voter applicants are the same.

“Magkapareho yung apelyido ng dalawang tao makita mo pareho sila ng weight nila nung pinanganak sila pareho yung number of born son ng mother or pinaka napansin naming yung pangalan dine-derive lang sa previous na pangalan like Jonathan yung next is Nathan,” Atty. Mohammad Jihad Saranggani, legal counsel of the petitioner, said.

Those who were called by the court hoped that they will not be excluded in the official list of voters as they have already submitted evidence to the court.

“Ni anhi sila diri nag present sila, naay silay mga identification cards, mga birth certifactes, naa sila barangay certification and then based sa pangutanan ni judge naka tubag and in fact kaila nila ang witness sa pikas,” Atty. Khalil Gibran Maranda, legal counsel of those who were petitioned, said.

The court hearing continues and security is tight to maintain peace and order.
