A 27-year-old welder from Binmaley, Pangasinan, died after he was electrocuted while working at a sidecar and welding shop in San Carlos City.

The victim, identified as Vicente De Guzman, was using welding equipment when it reportedly came into contact with his body.

He was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

San Carlos City Police Investigation Officer PLT. Mc Kinley Mendoza said what happened was an accident.

“Tinignan naman pong mabuti ng ating mga imbestigador, wala namang foul play. Pure accidental po yung nangyari,” Mendoza said.

The shop owner and De Guzman’s family have reached a settlement, with the owner providing ₱70,000 in assistance.

“Nagkaroon po sila ng pagkasundo na tutulungan ng may-ari then nakapagbigay po siya ng amount na P70,000,” Mendoza said.

Authorities reminded workers to always wear safety gear, especially when handling electrical equipment, to prevent similar tragedies.
