A man was arrested inside the camp of the General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) for allegedly pretending to be a police officer .

The police said that the man, 24, was caught taking a selfie at the SAF-44 statue wearing an improper police uniform.

The man was arrested after he failed to present proof that he is a cop.

“Kahibalo na ta nga Lunes, daghan kaayo nga gi-cater nga walk in mga complainant dinhi sa sulod sa Camp Lira… daghan man ta og national support unit diri sa atong kampo mao nga gi-take advantage to niya, pa-picture-picture sa atong mga establishment diri labi na kay duol na ang atong anniversary sa SAF 44 so, siyempre, baka maghimo siya og extortion activities,” GSCPO Director, Col. Nicomedes Olaivar Jr., said.

The man allegedly bought the police uniform online.

He is facing charges for usurpation of authority and illegal use of police uniform.

“Pagsuot pa lang niya, illegal use of uniform and insignia, and naa puy mga borloloy ato o mga paraphernalia sa iyang uniform, then usurpation of authority kay paila-ila nga pulis siya,” Olaivar added.

GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is reaching out to the man for a statement, as of this writing.
