The Pavia Municipal Police in the Province of Iloilo are set to identify the three suspects in the shooting to death of a pastor-veterinarian inside his vehicle based on a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.
In a CCTV footage, three persons were seen waiting for the victim at the intersection of Barangay Pagsangaan going to Barangay Anilao in Pavia. Two of the men were on board their motorcycles while the other rode in pillion with one of them.
In another frame of the CCTV taken in Barangay Anilao, three men were seen fleeing from the scene, back to an intersection leading to Barangay Tigum.
Pavia Police believe that one of the assailants rode with the victim inside the car.
The suspect could have possibly taken a ride on one of the motorcycles, police said, based on accounts of witnesses.
“Ang nangyari lang po sa isang bridge malapit sa scene of the incident. Hindi na nakita sa mga CCTV natin pero within that location alam po namin na doon sumakay yung suspek,” said Major Harold Rendora, chief of the Pavia Municipal Station.
Earlier, police disclosed that a third party and business are possible motives to the slay, but because of documents and financial transactions recovered, the victim was seen to be possibly connected to investments and networking schemes.
“Meron po tayong nakitang six (6) digits sa transactions so malamang na utang yun kasi wala naman po talagang ganoong pera si pastor. Hindi ka naman kikita ng six (6) digits sa pagiging animal technician tapos freelancer hindi ka pa in-house. Meron siyang mga communications sa messenger niya na meron siyang affiliation sa mga online networking or online trading, magse-send ka ng money tapos yung money i-se-send nila sa online platform,” Major Rendora added.
Pavia Police are set to file a case against the suspects.
The police will also probe on the involvement of other persons behind the slay.
According to Police Regional Office (PRO) 6, despite the incident, it is considered an isolated case, and that there is no gun-for-hire group in the region.
“Wala tayong dapat na ikabahala when it comes to gun for hire because wala tayong gun-for- hire group na nag-exist dito sa Western Visayas,” Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, spokesperson of PRO 6, said.
