Propsmen of two contingents in the “Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakbayan sa Sugbo 2025” event in Cebu City got involved in a fight.

The incident evening on January 12, 2025 was caught on video.

In the video, a woman was heard trying to stop the two groups from getting into a scuffle.  

Afterwhich, the propsmen were seen jumping off from a vehicle. Hurling of stones followed and chasing ensued.

In an initial investigation conducted by personnel of Police Station, the incident happened in Sitio Puras, Barangay Sambag Uno, Cebu City.

Police confirmed that the involved were propsmen from contingents that represent Barangay Inayawan and Barangay Tisa, Cebu City.

It was learned that the squabble started while the two groups were inside the Cebu City Sports Center. The groups were said to have performed one after another.

Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia ordered an investigation into the incident and to summon the two groups.

Despite the scuffle, the authorities said that it was an isolated case.

Police Colonel Enrico Figueroa, new officer in charge of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) assured that no similar incident would happen again.

The “Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Dakbayan” event is a prelude to the Sinulog Grand Parade and Dance Showdown on Sunday, January 19, 2025 with at least 42 competing contingents.
