The Provincial Government of Negros Oriental has declared a state of calamity due to the continuous volcanic unrest of Mount Kanlaon. 

The declaration on Friday, January 10, 2025, is based on the recommendation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC). 

“The resolution, documented as Resolution No. 1329, was presided over by Vice Governor Jaime L. Reyes on December 27, 2024, and attested by Provincial Secretary Geoffrey P. Villahermosa for the correctness of the resolution, highlighting the urgent need for disaster preparedness and community support in light of ongoing volcanic activity,” the Provincial Government of Negros Oriental said in a post. 

Governor Manuel Sagarbarria signed Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 1329 on January 8, 2025. 

“As the situation progresses, authorities are asking citizens to remain informed and follow safety procedures and evacuation orders,” Capitol added.
