A construction worker in Cagayan de Oro died after he was hit by an Antipolo tree that fell while he was taking a break near his work site in Barangay Tablon.
He was reportedly hit on the right side of his head.
“Nag-break, kay break time man katong higayona… suddenly, ang distansya nga kahoy nga Antipolo, ni-collapse, naigo gyud ang kaning biktima diri sa iyang wala nga bahin sa iyang ulo,” Cugman Police Station Investigator, Senior Master Sgt. Brian Hope Carillo, said.
The man did not reach the hospital alive.
Police said there was no foul play in the incident.
“Sa foul play, layo kayo nga naa’y foul play… daghan nakakita mga kaubanan niya, mga laborer sa construction site, nga walay foul play,” Carillo added.
GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is trying to reach the construction company for a statement, as of this writing.
The company reportedly told the police it is ready to shoulder the burial expenses.
Authorities reminded workers to take extra precaution at the workplace.
“Magbinantayon ta sa atong kilid-kilid kay kato act of nature man, kahoy siya, nikalit lang. So, mag-ampo before magtrabaho… after trabaho, mag-ampo, magbinantayon para sa safety,” Carillo said.
