Human skeletal remains were found near a river in Barangay Tablon, Cagayan de Oro.

Authorities could not ascertain yet, as of this writing, if the skeletal remains are that of a man or a woman.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) is still processing the human bones.

Police said the skeletal remains were found by a resident who was looking for wood.

“Samtang siya nangahoy - kay ang iyang source of income usa man ang pagbaligya og kahoy - duna siya’y nakita nga bukog sa tawo didto sa sapa,” Cugman Police Station Investigator, Senior Master Sgt. Brian Hope Carillo, said.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the find.

The skeletal remains will be autopsied to determine the possible cause of death.

Police urged those who have missing family member to coordinate with them.
