At least 30 aircraft cleaners sought the assistance of the Lapu-Lapu City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) to complain against their manpower agency for successive delays in the release of their salary and other benefits.
Sixteen of the 30 aircraft cleaners showed up at the Lapu-Lapu City PESO morning on January 9, 2025, bringing their letter-complaint.
In the letter, the complainants said that the release of their salary has been delayed beginning in July 2024.
They cited that their salary supposedly on December 15, 2024 was released late, on December 23, 2024; while salary for the other half of the month was released through partial cash advance at P1,500 only.
Further, they did not receive their 13th month pay in 2024 which is mandated by the law to be given to employees before December 24, 2024.
In addition, the aircraft cleaners worry even more when they learned of the non-remittance of their contributions to the Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHILHEALTH), and Home Development Mutual Fund (PAGIBIG).
It was learned that there used to be 63 workers at their Cebu station deployed by the manpower ageny, but started resigning after the said successive delays in the release of their salary.
According to Kim Francisco, Lapu-Lapu City PESO manager, the aircraft cleaners have been advised to file their complaint as well at the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 7 office.
The complainants are aircraft cleaners of two big airline companies in the country.
Francisco said his office mulls on visiting the complainants’ Cebu office immediately to assist the workers in arranging an amicable settlement between them and their employer.
As of this writing, GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak is yet to get a statement from the manpower agency involved.
