More than 13,000 Catholic devotees joined the Traslacion of the Black Nazarene in Cagayan de Oro on Thursday, January 9, 2025, according to the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO).

COCPO also said no untoward incident was recorded during the religious activity.

“Generally peaceful and Traslacion 2025. Walay untoward incident nahitabo during the whole duration of Traslacion,” COCPO Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Evan Viñas, said.

The procession started at past 5 a.m. from the St. Augustine Cathedral and the image of the Black Nazarene arrived at the Jesus Nazarene Parish-Archdiocesan Shrine of the Black Nazarene at past 7 a.m.

“Dito, as we look at it, very cooperative yung mga tao at nagpapasalamat tayo sa very orderly na Traslacion,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Director, Brigadier General Jaysen De Guzman, said.

“Sa walo ka mga medical stations nga atong gibutang along sa traslacion nga ruta, negative gyud ta og mga narespondehan bisan kining mga minor cases, fainting mga kalipong, wala,” City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) Head, Nick Jabagat, added.

Meanwhile, the Traslacion of the Black Nazarene in Davao City lasted for two hours.

The procession started at around 4:30 a.m. from the Black Nazarene Chapel in New Lanzona, Matina, which is under the San Pablo Parish in Davao City. The image of the Black Nazarene returned to the chapel at around 6:30 a.m.

Devotees also joined the Traslacion from San Alfonso Maria De Liguori Parish in Barangay Mandug to our Lady of Peñafrancia Chapel in Barangay Tigatto.

Davao City Archbishop Romulo Valles lauded the devotion of the public.

“Ang nindot nga debosyon sa Hesus Nazareno, mao ang pagsaulog niini sa Santos nga Eucharistia. Kini nga buhi nga larawan sa nindot kaayo nga imahen ni Hesus Nazareno. Eucharistic, pang misa gyud,” Valles said.
