A special task force launched a major operation targeting "colorum" tricycles in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, issuing dozens of citation tickets to non-compliant drivers.

Positioned early along Rizal Avenue, the team stopped tricycle drivers operating without proper permits or licenses.

As of January 6, more than 50 tickets have been issued, with authorities setting their sights on over 1,500 unregistered tricycles in the municipality.

“Mahalagang mahuli sila kasi ‘yang mga colorum, sila ang unregistered at walang licenses,” said Joven Visperas, a member of the deputized Mangaldan Traffic and Security Office (MTSO) task force, said.

One of the drivers apprehended, Joel Martinez, admitted his tricycle lacked the required permit.

“Kumukuha na rin po ako, i-process ko na rin po,” he said.

MTSO Chief Gerardo Ydia urged tricycle drivers to secure permits to avoid penalties.

“’Yang colorum dapat mag-comply sila para makapamasada rin sila,” he said.

The operations will continue in the coming days, with three to four teams deployed across different areas to enforce compliance.

This initiative aims to regulate the town’s transportation sector and ensure that only properly registered vehicles are allowed on the road.
