A 25-year-old man was killed while four others were injured after a gunman fired shots at the pickup truck they were riding in Barangay Rosary Heights 10, Cotabato City.

The fatality was identified as Ahmad Kanapia Utto, the driver of the pickup truck. He died on the spot after sustaining gunshot wounds in his body.

Two of the four injured passengers were brigade commanders of the 105th Base, 15th, and 16th Brigade of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

A 61-year-old passenger also sustained a gunshot wound in the right arm while the other sustained injuries in the arm.

The four passengers injured were brought to the hospital for treatment.

Police are eyeing personal grudge as motive in the shooting.

“Sa inisyal na investigation ay believed to be personal grudge. Nagkakaroon pa ng malaliman na investigation tungkol po sa insidente,” Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Jopy Ventura, said.

The 33-year-old suspect was reportedly identified by witnesses and is now being pursued by authorities.

“Kung meron man pong nakasaksi sa nangyaring insidente, maaaring makipag-ugnayan sa ating Cotabato City Police Office or sa kahit ano pa mang law enforcement agencies natin,” Ventura added.
