The Local Government Unit of Iloilo City denied the request of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) on jamming of mobile phone signal during the highlights of the “Dinagyang Festival 2025” on January 26, 2025.

“We regret to inform you that we cannot accommodate your request,” Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said in his response to the letter-request of the ICPO. 

In the mayor’s letter, he stated that he understands the intention of ICPO to enhance public safety during the festivity, but mobile communication of personal transactions, business transactions, and emergency services are important amid the religious and cultural activities.

Treñas urther stated that he is confident in the capability and expertise of the police force to enforce public safety and order without having to jam telecommunication signals in the city.
