It’s all systems go for the procession of the Black Nazarene in Davao City on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

The replica of the Black Nazarene arrived at the San Alfonso Parish in Barangay Mandug from St. Mary’s Perpetual Rosary Parish in Buhangin around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8.

One of the devotees who waited for the image of the Black Nazarene to arrive so she could touch it was Celestina Camarillo.

“Nagtuo ko nga makaayo gyud siya sa akong mga sakit gyud… pangandoy nako nga ayuhon unta niya,” Camarillo said.

The traslacion will start at the San Alfonso Parish at 9 a.m. and will end at the Our Lady of Peñafrancia Chapel in Tigatto. The Holy Mass will start at 10 a.m.

“Ugmang adlawa, traslacion mga 9 a.m., gikan dinhi padulong sa DECA, Our Lady of Peñafracia… awhag lang sa tanan nga kining kalihukan, ato kining pagasalmutan pagatambungan,” San Alfonso Parish Coordinating Council President, Vilma Duran, said.

The Black Nazarene GKK in New Lanzona, Matina also prepared for the feast. The Traslacion will start at 4 a.m.

“After sa traslacion misa 7 a.m., duna pud mi misa alas sais sa gabie. After sa misa sa gabie, duna mi cosplay sportsfest sa mga bata,” the organizer, Inday Hermenia Echavez Fabroa, said.

Meanwhile, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will deploy policemen to provide security and ensure public safety during the religious activity.

“Sa poong Nazareno, ang DCPO naa na ‘tay ginahimo nga security plan for the activity,” DCPO Spokesperson, Captain Hazel Caballero, said.
