Mobile communication may be limited at the route of the procession during the Traslacion in Cagayan de Oro on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
According to the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), signal will be jammed for two hours.
“Confirmed NTC granted the request to temporarily cut off all network signals during Black Nazarene Traslacion,” COCPO Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Evan Viñas, said.
The procession will begin at 6 a.m. at the St. Augustine Cathedral and will pass through Dolores Street, Veles Street, CM Recto Avenue, and will end at the Nazareno Church.
The move to jam communication signal is part of the security measure to ensure public safety during the religious activity.
Devotees are urged to do the kissing and wiping of handkerchiefs on the image of the Black Nazarene during the Novena as this will not be allowed during the Traslaction.
The image of the Black Nazarene will be transferred from the Nazareno Church to St. Augustine Cathedral at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8.
Meanwhile, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD) said at least eight first aid stations will be put up along the route to immediately respond to emergency situations.
