Over 3,000 personnel of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine Coast Guard, and other government agencies participate in a send-off ceremony for the 460th Fiesta Señor celebration.

At 6 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, a Holy Mass was offered at the Cebu City Sports Center to mark the send-off for the personnel who will ensure safety and order during the religious and cultural activities in line with the Sinulog 2025 festivity.

Personnel from the Department of Health, Office of the Civil Defense, Cebu City Traffic Office, Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team, and Barangay Public Safety Officer also joined the send-off ceremony.

The Holy Mass for the send-off was led by Fater Andres Rivera, Jr., rector of the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu.

After the Holy Mass, priests moved around the venue to sprinkle Holy Water at the personnel and their equipment as a symbol of blessing them.

Afterwhich, a walk-through was initiated by the Cebu City Police Office in areas where events will be held.

The personnel begin their official duties for the Fiesta Señor and Sinulog Festival activities right after the ceremony.

The Novena that marks the start of the Fiesta Señor celebration opens with a Penitential Walk with Jesus dawn on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia expressed confidence in the capability and expertise of the peacekeeping forces.
