The local government of Mangaldan, Pangasinan is cracking down on delinquent business owners who fail to renew their permits, with over 20 stalls facing closure if compliance isn’t met.
Arturo Embuido, a businessman who rents out a salon in Mangaldan Public Market, was among the early birds at the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO).
“Para legal ang negosyo, mahirap kung walang mga permit,” he said.
According to Mangaldan Municipal Treasurer Marilou Gavino, the campaign against non-compliant businesses is serious.
“Seryoso kami... bakit tumatakbo ang negosyo nila na walang permit? Dapat fair ang laban,” she said.
The local government has already sent several notices to delinquent business owners, urging them to renew their permits.
“Tinatawagan ko din sila na dapat mag-comply sila sa kung ano ang itinakda ng gobyerno,” Gavino said.
With no further extensions planned, authorities stressed that businesses without permits will face closure.
Permit renewals and new applications continue at the municipal office.
