A policeman was arrested with alleged smuggled cigarettes at a checkpoint in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.
The suspect, a patrolman assigned at the Sultan Naga Dimaporo Municipal Police Station, and his companion were heading to Kapatagan town from Picong, Lanao del Sur when their vehicle was intercepted at the checkpoint.
Authorities found around 600 reams of alleged smuggled cigarettes worth nearly P500,000 when they opened the boxes loaded in the vehicle.
The suspects were taken under police custody and may face charges for alleged violation of The Graphic Health Warning Law (RA 10643).
The police will also face administrative charges.
