A 25-year-old rider died while seven others were injured after a motorcycle and minivan collided and caught fire in Banga, South Cotabato.

Police said the motorcycle allegedly overtook several vehicles and crashed into the minivan when it encroached into the opposite lane.

Adelyn Perez Lazaga, said.

During the collision, the motorcycle and the minivan caught fire.

“Actually, yung motorcycle, pagka-collide niya, nag-ignite, kaya nasunog silang dalawa, yung engine niya, kaya nasunog,” Lazaga added.

Police said the rider sustained head injuries and did not reach the hospital alive.

The seven passengers of the minivan sustained minor injuries. The driver of the minivan and the passengers are relatives.

Both parties are reportedly trying to reach an agreement, as of this writing.

Authorities reminded motorists to be always careful on the road.
