A 71-year-old man died while his wife was injured after they were hacked by their own son who allegedly got angry when they reportedly prodded him to work.

The incident happened in Davao City.

According to the suspect’s nephew, the suspect first hacked his father who was chopping firewood at that time.

The victim sustained hack wounds in the shoulder and neck.

The suspect then went inside the house and hacked his 58-year-old mother.

The woman was hit in the head and was brought to the hospital for treatment. She is in safe condition, as of this writing.

The suspect escaped, but he was arrested during hot pursuit.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson, Captain Hazel Tuazon, said the suspect got angry because his parents allegedly forced him to work to help the family.

The suspect is facing parricide and frustrated parricide charges.
