A man died on the spot after he was stabbed several times by two suspects in Barangay Lumbia, Cagaya de Oro at around 2 a.m. on January 1, 2025.

The victim sustained at least eight stab wounds.

One of the suspects was arrested while operatives are pursuing the other, as of this writing.

Police are eyeing jealousy as possible motive in the killing as the suspect arrested is the alleged live-in partner of the woman who allegedly had a relationship with the victim.

The people involved figured in a heated argument prior to the stabbing.

“Nakabati og mga pulong nga dili kayo maayo paminawon ba medyo law-ay mao na nagduda ang suspetsado nga aduna sila’y relasyon. So nisangpot dayun sa panag-away, panaglalis hantod nga duna na dayun nahitabo pagpanunggab,” Executive Master Sgt. Allen Tamayo of Lumbia Police Station said.

Authorities are urging the suspect at large to surrender.

“Dili na lang nato paabuton nga mogawas ang warrant kung mamahimo musurrender ka dinhi sa among opisina, willing ang atong opisina nga mucater sa imo. Identified naman siya nakuha na nato ang iyang identification, edad ug asa siya nagpuyo,” Tamayo added.
