Several areas in Davao City were flooded following heavy rains evening on Monday, December 30, 2024.
A rider had to push his motorcycle as floodwaters in Cabantian Street in Buhangin rose.
The water at the river in Matina Aplaya, Matina Pangi, and Matina Crossing also reached critical level.
Several residents in Matina Crossing were also evacuated.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, the Matina Pangi Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said at least 39 families were evacuated from Purok 3-A, based on initial data.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) continues to assess the damage of the flood, as of this writing.
State weather bureau PAGASA said the inclement weather experienced in the city was due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).
