Despite the rainy weather on December 30, 2024, the police in Isabela went ahead with the destruction of more than 2,600 confiscated illegal firecrackers worth around P70,000.

According to Police Colonel Allen Lee Bauding, Director of the Isabela Police Provincial Office, the move aimed to reduce firecracker-related injuries during the New Year celebrations.

Among those destroyed were prohibited firecrackers, including:

  • five-star,
  • kwitis,
  • Judas belts; and,
  • improvised devices like boga.
