A 43-year-old man was hacked to death by his co-worker in Barangay Sinawal, General Santos City dawn on Monday, December 30, 2024.

The victim sustained wounds in the head, neck, and back.

The victim and the suspect were working at a buy and sell business with corn.

Authorities caught the suspect reportedly still holding the bolo he allegedly used in the crime.

“Amo siyang naaresto kay sa pagresponde sa atong PNP personnel, anaa pa siya sa area og gunit pa niya ang gigamit niya nga sundang sa pagpatay sa atong biktima nato. Ato siyang giaresto ug mi-surrender pud siya,” Police Station 2 Deputy Commander, Captain Cyrus Vince Arro, said.

The suspect reportedly owned up to the crime. He said the victim allegedly threatened to kill him when they were about to sleep.

The suspect hacked the victim at dawn. The victim was allegedly drunk.

“Oo gitigbas ko lang… naghigda mi nakatalikod ko, giingnan ko niya patay ka ugma. Wala lang ingon ko hilom… nakalitan nako, wala nako magawa… nakita nako patay na...,” the suspect added.

The victim’s family is calling for justice.

“Murag manok lang niya gipatay akong igsoon…unta panagutan niya ang gihimo niya sa akong manghod,” the victim’s sister said.

“Sobra nagmahay, pero ngayo lang ko pasaylo,” the suspect added.

The suspect will likely face murder charges.

Meanwhile, a 52-year-old man was found dead at a house for sale in General Santos City afternoon on Sunday, December 29.

The victim, who was a vendor, had no shirt and his hands were tied when found.

The victim is not related to the owner of the house.

Authorities are investigating the incident to identify the perpetrator.
