In 2024, ordinary barangay issues turned into stories of hope and action, thanks to the voices of residents and the power of community-driven solutions.

Residents in various barangays across North Central Luzon shared their daily struggles - from floods, damaged roads, to drainage issues, and sought help through local news platforms.

Their persistence brought meaningful changes and inspired others to take action.

In Barangay Poblacion, Mangaldan, Pangasinan, dangerous drainage canals caused accidents for motorists.

After residents aired their concerns on One North Central Luzon, sturdier manhole covers were installed within a month.

Barangay officials also coordinated with the municipal council to reroute heavy trucks that quickly damage roads and drainage systems.

In Dagupan City, Barangay Poblacion Oeste residents navigated knee-deep floods during high tide.

This issue will soon be addressed through an ongoing road and drainage project aimed at raising the area’s elevation and improving flood control.

In Barangay Malabago, Mangaldan, residents dealt with backyard flooding because there was no proper water outlet.

After follow-ups by One North Central Luzon, the local government allocated funds to build a drainage canal.

In Calasiao, Pangasinan, Sitio Bingko’s residents suffered from rough and rocky roads.

Motorists often complained how they would usually end up with flat tires.

The barangay responded by collaborating with officials to smoothen the roads using sand and soil.

As 2025 begins, One North Central Luzon promises to keep shining a light on grassroots issues in the year ahead.

“Panata namin ang manatiling tapat sa aming paglilingkod... upang magsilbing boses at mata sa Hilaga at Gitnang Luzon,” it announced in its afternoon news program on Friday, December 27, 2024.
