One of the suspects in the robbery that killed a bank security guard in Compostela, Davao de Oro was arrested.
According to the Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11), the suspect, “Johnlee,” was identified positively by an eyewitness.
The guard was escorting a bank teller after picking up cash deposits from a commercial establishment when they were attacked by the suspects on December 23, 2024.
The guard tried to fight the suspect as the teller managed to slip into the vehicle but a gunshot hit the guard in the chest, killing him in an instant.
Another suspect snatched the bag with the money worth nearly P3.7 million from the teller.
Operatives immediately launched a manhunt operation, which resulted in the arrest of one of the suspects.
Authorities continue to pursue the remaining suspect to ensure that justice will be served.
“Rest assured, the PNP PRO 11 will relentlessly pursue the remaining suspect/s and will leave no stone unturned in bringing them to justice. We honor the bravery of the fallen security guard and stand in solidarity with his family during this difficult time,” PRO-11 Director, Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete, said.
The suspect arrested is now detained and is facing charges for robbery with homicide.
