Firecracker stalls in Dagupan City has now opened for business but sellers report slow sales as prices rise slightly compared to last year.
Around 30 firecracker stalls are set up in Barangay Poblacion Oeste, across from the office of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), operating 24 hours daily since December 25, 2024.
Sellers have been busy displaying their products like "lusis" at P200 to P250 per dozen to fireworks priced at P2,000 to P7,000.
“Dito na kami magdamag na, kaya lang kakaunti pa ang bumibili,” Rona Marcella, a firecracker vendor, said.
Prices for firecrackers have increased by P5 to P15 per item, with "kwitis" and "whistle bomb" now costing P8 and P7 per piece, respectively.
To ensure safety, authorities are monitoring the firecracker stalls.
“Kasama natin ang BFP, PNP, CDRRMO na nagmo-monitor ngayon diyan sa bentahan ng paputok,” Jaime Serna, head of the Anti-Littering Team, said.
Pangasinan PPO Director PCOL. Rollyfer Capoquian assured the public banned firecrackers are being strictly prohibited from sale.
“To see to it talaga, makasigurado tayo na ‘yung mga bawal na paputok ay hindi maibenta sa ating mga kababayan,” he said.
