An environmental group is urging those who will visit the tourist areas to be responsible and mindful of proper waste disposal.
The Interfacing Development Interventions for Sustainability (IDIS)-Davao reminded those who will go to the rivers or mountains to celebrate the holiday season to dispose their garbage properly.
In an advisory, the group said throwing of garbage within the “protected areas” such as the Panigan-Tamugan watershed is prohibited.
The Panigan-Tamugan watershed is the source of the potable water in Davao City.
The public is urged to report to authorities those who will be found throwing wastes in the watershed so it will be acted immediately.
The Bantay Bukid volunteers have reported earlier that sacks of wastes have been collected in the watershed during the cleanup activities.
