The Christmas celebration in Northern Mindanao, so far, has been ‘generally peaceful,’ according to the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10).
“The Christmas season has been marked as generally peaceful, with no significant untoward incidents reported across the region," PRO-10 Director, Brigadier General Jaysen De Guzman, said.
PRO-10 attributed the safe and peaceful celebration to the implementation of ‘Oplan Ligtas Paskuhan 2024,’ which focused on increasing police visibility and enhancing security in public areas such as malls, churches, and transportation hubs.
Police said only one minor incident involving a firecracker-related injury was recorded in Bukidnon.
No incident were reported during the Misa de Gallo across the region.
PRO-10 said it will continue its security operations for the New Year celebration.
“Our police officers will remain deployed in key areas to maintain peace and ensure public safety. The commitment of PRO-10 to public security remains steadfast,” De Guzman added.
Authorities also urged the public to cooperate in achieving a peaceful New Year celebration.
“The safety and security of our communities are best achieved when citizens and law enforcement work hand in hand. Let us continue to support each other as we move toward welcoming the New Year,” De Guzman said.
