Authorities seized alleged smuggled cigarettes worth more than P11 million in separate operations in Zamboanga City and Davao City.
In Zamboanga City, personnel of Police Station 11 intercepted a van loaded with around 141 assorted master cases of alleged smuggled cigarettes.
The items seized were worth more than P8 million.
Police arrested two individuals on board the van after they failed to present legal documents for the items.
The two did not issue a statement.
Meanwhile, Task Force Davao confiscated at a checkpoint in Davao City more than 4,600 reams of alleged smuggled cigarettes worth more than P3.6 million loaded inside a pickup truck.
The suspect was taken under police custody after he failed to present documents for the items.
All items seized during the operations in the two cities were turned over to the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
The suspects arrested, on the other hand, may face charges for alleged violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
