Visitors flocked to the Tondaligan Beach in Barangay Bonuan Gueset on Christmas Day to enjoy the sea, bond over meals, and celebrate the season together.
Cottage owners reported a surge in demand.
With over 100 cottages on the beach, rentals usually cost P500 on weekdays and P800 on weekends.
However, on December 25 and January 1, rates go up to P1,500.
“Sa ngayon, sem break, Christmas, and New Year, lumalakas na rin,” Jose Cayabyab, a cottage owner, said.
Cayabyab said these two peak days are crucial for their earnings.
“Dalawang araw lang naman daw at sana’y maintindihan ng mga customer,” he added.
Despite this, the beach buzzed with activity as some visitors from various provinces swam in the sea, while others relaxed, played games, or grilled food.
“Sabi nila maganda raw dito. Nag-celebrate na rin kami ng 60th birthday ng nanay ko,” Edmund Manuel, a visitor from Nueva Ecija, said.
“Okay na po. Maganda!” Rovelyn Del Rosario, a visitor from Cavite, said.
“Masarap! Manyaman! Manyaman, keni! Dagupan!” Danilyn Manuel, a visitor from Pampanga, added.
Local authorities continue to monitor the beach and ensure the safety of beachgoers throughout the festivities.
