Time-lapse footage of ash emissions from the Kanlaon Volcano summit crater was recorded between 8:17 p.m. to 8:46 p.m. on December 23, 2024.
Three discrete ash emission events were observed between 7:05 p.m. to 7:40 p.m., 7:49 p.m. to 8:10 p.m., and 8:19 p.m. to 8:43 p.m. These events generated grayish plumes that rose 500 meters above the crater before drifting west as recorded by the Lower Masulog Thermal Camera in Canlaon City, Province of Negros Oriental.
Earlier, continuous emission of dark ash that began at 11:45 a.m. lasted for five (5) hours 13 minutes and dispersed ash to the general northwest.
The ash emission resumed at 11:37 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.
The emission generated a dark plume 1,200 meters tall that is expected to rain ash over the south and southwest sectors of the volcano.
Alert Level 3 (high level of unrest) prevails over Kanlaon.
The ash emission has ended at 11:48 a.m. on December 24, 2024.
