A 64-year-old woman died after she was hit by a bus on the national highway in Kibawe, Bukidnon.
The bus driver reportedly told the police that the woman was hesitant to cross at first.
The driver reportedly tried to avoid the woman and moved to the other lane, but the woman crossed the street suddenly.
“So, para iyang malikayan, didto siya (ang bus) nag-proceed sa opposite side pero nidagan ang biktima so nagtagbo gyud sila,” Kibawe Municipal Police Station Deputy Chief, Lt. Teresita Beleno-Incillo, said.
The woman sustained injuries in different parts of her body and died in the hospital.
“So medyo naa na pud siya’y sa iyang panan-aw medyo hanap-hanap na pud pero nahitabo nga siya ra gyud isa ang nakabaklay ato nga time,” Beleno-Incillo added.
The bus driver surrendered and did not issue a statement.
Authorities said the bus company is ready to shoulder the burial expenses.
Police said the incident may serve as a lesson for motorists and pedestrians.
“If ever nga naa na ta’y kauban sa pamilya nga senior, ato na gyud sila naobserbahan nga aduna gyud medyo depekto sama ato nga medyo hanap (na ang panan-aw) o medyo mabungol na, muabot man gyud sa ingon ana. So, mas maayo nga maubanan gyud na sila sa ilang paglakaw para safety ang tanan,” Beleno-Incillo said.
