A dog that was sold allegedly for slaughter was rescued in Laoag City.
Nikki Antonio, a teacher from Barangay 23 and a fur mom, came across a social media post featuring a photo of the injured dog allegedly being sold for slaughter.
Concerned for the animal’s welfare, Antonio alerted the authorities immediately.
With the assistance of the City Veterinary Office, the dog was rescued and treated for its injuries.
The Laoag City Police Department is now investigating if the man from whom the dog was rescued will face charges for violating the Animal Welfare Act.
