The holiday spirit is in full swing as thousands flock to malls in Dagupan City for last-minute Christmas shopping.
A mall in the city, which used to welcome around 10,000 visitors daily, now sees 14,000 to 15,000 shoppers each day.
To cater to the demand, the mall has extended its hours from the usual 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
"Maraming nagsa-shop for Christmas gifts. Gusto nating bigyan ang customers more time to shop for their last-minute shopping," Danica Aquino, Marketing Officer of Nepo Mall, said.
Shoppers like Dr. Shanie Ley Sapira is happy for the adjustment in shopping hours because this can cater to those with busy schedules.
"Medyo late na kami nakakauwi. Blessing na in-extend nila. Maganda lalo na Christmas rush," Sapira said.
To ensure safety, the mall has tightened security measures. Additional guards now patrol both inside and around the mall.
"Nagdagdag ng manpower sa perimeter. Para ma-secure ang mall goers. May additional guard sa loob," Rolinda Dondo, Head of Security, said.
The extended hours also bring opportunities to tricycle drivers, who can earn more during the holiday season.
"Pumapasada ako minsan alas dose, ala una na. Umaabot pa ito ng alas nuebe. Kahit papaano, makakapag-uwi pa rin ako ng maganda-ganda," Jaime Ballena, a tricycle driver, said.
