Despite the rising cost of some ingredients, including cocoa powder, the prices of bakery products in Pangasinan remain stable.

Kaye Alcantara was among the early customers at a bakery in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, purchasing a cake for an upcoming occasion. She prefers cakes during holiday gatherings.

“Nakasanayan na rin kada handaan, may cake,” Alcantara said.

Ferdinand Idio, the owner of the bakery, said they have chosen to keep the same prices despite the rising cost of eggs.

"Hindi na namin pinapatong sa bread. Pamasko na namin sa suki," Idio said.

However, because the supply of cocoa is reportedly limited, his bakery has chosen to limit their production of chocolate cake.

An order for the cake ranges from P599 to P799, depending on the size.

“Stable naman ‘yung [price], hindi po magtataas, hindi rin po magbaba yung mga presyo ng bread. Kasi hindi naman po tumataas ‘yung price ng sugar, ng harina," Cristita Mendoza of the Pangasinan Baker’s Club said.

The Pangasinan Baker’s Club assures residents that prices of bakery products will remain consistent into the new year.

Cheese Pimiento Bread is sold at P14 per piece. Spanish Bread, Pan de Coco, Classic Ensaymada, Ube Bread, and Cheese Bread are priced at P12 each.

Meanwhile, a bag of pandesal costs P49, Cinnamon is P89, and Ube Cheese de Sal is P79. A banana loaf is available for P139.
