A 19-year-old man sustained a broken jaw after he was punched by another 19-year-old person while inside an establishment in Cebu City.

The victim referred to as “Nimrod” was with a friend inside a drinking joint in Pelaez Street, Barangay Kalubihan, Cebu City dawn on December 17, 2024.

It was learned that the place was crowded at that time; Nimrod rubbed against a person who got mad at him.

Nimrod said he apologized for rubbing against the person explaining about the tight space as the area was full to capacity. However, the suspect punched him several times before fleeing.

The victim said he believes there was another object used, besides the punching, that injured severely his jaw.

An X-ray film showed the radiographic image of his broken jaw.

In an interview with the victim’s parents, it was learned that food has to be pureéd for the victim to be able to eat.

As the victim could open barely his mouth, an implant is essential.

Nimrod Jose Genobaña, the father, a barangay worker in Quiot, Cebu City, called on for assistance in his son’s medical operation and expenses. 

The incident was reported at the Carbon Police Station.

Police Major Erwin Abrasado, chief of the Carbon Police Station, identified the suspect to be a certain “Sam Aying.” He called on the suspect to surrender. 

“Maglipay ta hunahunaon nato nga dili ta makapasakit sa atong isig ka tawo. Kay Christmas gud, supposedly magkasinabtanay ta. Dili na lang padakuon aron dili magkaproblema,” Abrasado said.
