Power distributors in Pangasinan, including the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENPELCO) and Dagupan Electric Corporation (DECORP), have assured of stable electricity supply during the holiday season.

Based on monitoring by the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), there is no indication of supply thinning or the need for an alert system, at least, as of this writing.

"Sapat naman po ‘yung supply natin o ‘yung generation compared sa demand o ginagamit ng ating member consumers," Engr. Rodrigo Corpuz, General Manager of CENPELCO, said.

This despite the increased use of electricity due to the colder weather and the use of Christmas decorations.

It is expected that the stable supply will continue through the New Year, barring any unforeseen shutdowns or maintenance issues at generating plants.

"'Wag lang magkaroon ng transmission constraints, wala naman kaming kontrol sa ganun. Kunwari, may natumbang poste ng NGCP o may naputol na linya nila," Atty. Randy Castilan, Spokesperson for DECORP, said.

Consumers like Hilda Aquino, a business owner in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, still practice energy conservation despite the stable supply.

"'Pag malamig na, kailangang patayin... kailangan magtipid dahil iba ‘yung kuryente namin dito, commercial siya," Aquino said.
