At least 10 graduates from prestigious Cebu-based universities, and a graduate from Cebu who studied in Manila, ranked Number 1 in various licensure examinations in 2024 that sealed Cebu’s reputation as a center for academic excellence.
These graduates who ranked Number 1 are:
Christopher Niño Duane Mendoza of Cebu City for Medicine (April 2024 Physicians Licensure Exam). Dr. Mendoza graduated from Matias H. Aznar Memorial College of Medicine, Inc.;
Raymond Geoman of Dalaguete, Cebu and Christopher Regino Maranga of Cebu City for Electrical Engineering (April 2024 and August 2024 Electrical Engineers Licensure Exam, respectively). Engrs. Geoman and Maranga are graduates from the Cebu Institute of Technology University;
John Philip Minancillo of Cebu City for Mechanical Engineering (August 2024 Mechanical Engineers Licensure Exam). Engr. Minancillo is a graduate of the University of Cebu;
Kyle Christian Tutor of Lapu-Lapu City for Law (September 2024 Bar Exam). Atty. Tutor took up his Law studies at the University of the Philippines in Diliman;
Lara Tero of Cebu City for Education (September 2024 Secondary Teachers Licensure Exam). Tero graduated from the Cebu Normal University;
Nomel Alyssa Andan and Mary Eloisa Fullo, both of Cebu City, for Education (September 2024 Elementary Teachers Licensure Exam). Andan and Fullo are graduates from the Cebu Normal University;
Francis Charles Lauta of Cebu City for Civil Engineering (November 2024 Civil Engineers Licensure Exam). Engr. Lauta finished his course at the University of Cebu;
Chariemae Cañazares of Cebu City for Nursing (November 2024 Nurses Licensure Exam). Cañazares is a graduate from the Cebu Normal University; and
Jianne Ilysse Yu of Cebu City for Accountancy (December 2024 Certified Public Accountants Licensure Exam). Yu graduated from the University of San Carlos.
